Grupo Tan Tan (AKA Los Callejeros) returns to Sanchos Cantina & Cocina for a series of shows highlighting the home grown sounds of classic conjunto music in the breeding grounds of a neighborhood cantina.
True to the origins of conjunto music Grupo Tan Tan will be playing classic conjunto songs as a trio with the use of accordion, bajosexto, and tololoche.
Song lists will include popular polkas, waltzes, huapangos, rancheras, and cumbias by trailblazers and founders of the conjunto genre like Flaco Jimenez, Tony de la Rosa, Nicky Snick Villarreal, Santiago Jimenez, and Steve Jordan.
The group will also dive into classic and contemporary norteño, county, oldies, and cumbias that formed the sounds native to San Antonio. These songs will include artists such as Grupo Frontera, Los Tigres de Norte, Vicente Fernandez, Los Tucanes, Ramon Ayala, Anecito Molina, and Johnny Cash.
This series of shows is the type of event that anyone who is a lover of culture should not miss and we encourage everyone to bring friends and family as we hope these type of events will help foster a growing appreciation for our unique San Antonio culture.
