TBow Gonzalez & Dana Clark Duo CD Release Skyline Concert

November 23, 2024 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Dana and Tbow will make it a night of classic blues, jazzy blues, and bluesy originals, reflecting Tbow's 50 years of constant gigging with numerous San Antonio bands and Dana's study of traditional blues with Chicago legend Erwin Helfer and her study of jazz with Skip Green. There will be songs made famous by Little Milton, Robert Johnson, Bonnie Raitt, Koko Taylor, Harlem Hannah, T-bone Walker, Bessie Smith, B.B. King, Cannonball Adderley, Joe Zawinal, Louie Armstrong, and other blues masters. The night will include Tbow and Dana arrangements of blues standards: Summertime, St. James Infirmary, Stormy Monday, Sweet Home Chicago, Kansas City and more.

Since this is the CD Release Party for Dana's brand new CD "I'd Rather Play in the Band," some of those tunes will be presented. Tbow's latest collection of original music, "Freedom," will be available that night. Scroll down to read Tbow and Dana's bios.

Dana Clark: On the Chicago music scene for ten years, Dana played clubs, coffeehouses, and hotels around the city. She also traveled to perform at more than fifty colleges throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. During those years, she studied piano with Erwin Helfer, legendary for his traditional Chicago blues style, and Skip Green, one of Chicago’s most respected teachers of jazz.
She has played in rock bands, country groups, folk duos, jazz groups, as a solo act, and with blues musicians. This has given her the ability to compose in a wide range of styles, allowing her to mold her musical settings to fit the subject matter of her lyrics.
She believes that music is an important tool for personal healing, community building, and full participation in the human experience. Music is her favorite language.

Her recordings include a vinyl album and three CDs of original compositions. Her next CD, “I'd Rather Play in the Band,” will be released Nov. 2024. She also writes short stories, mostly true, mostly humorous, based on her misadventures in a life that remains unconventional.
